Managed to get the firmware updated from TerraMaster tech support and is working brilliantly now!
They had to do it remotely, shame you cant just download it and do it yourself to save everyone time but very happy its now working.

It's been previously mentioned that there are multiple revisions of the D5-300C which use different firmware & even some that cannot be updated, so Terra-Master is very careful with firmware updates around the blanket model number.
