I still don't see a reply to the original question - how to go about unlocking a locked account, using an administrator user? Preferably by command line, but also how to do it in the UI if there is a possibility there?

Thanks,

Bjorn

Hi. TMroy has already explained this on the first page of this post. I can explain it more detailed for you.

Regarding this system's security mechanism, it is mandatory and does not offer an option to turn it off. If you enter the wrong password multiple times, you either have to wait 2 minutes for another attempt or restart the NAS to get three attempts.

This restriction only applies to the IP address currently initiating the access. After changing the device or modifying the IP address of the device initiating the access, you can continue to attempt to access the NAS.

Thanks for your reply. The problem is of course that after two minutes and even days, the account was still locked. Thus we need a manual way to unlock an account. I am not talking about turning it off. Only to unlock a specific account. Having such an option available to an admin should be a no-brainer and represent no risk.

For now I got around it by simply removing the account and re-creating it, but it is completely ridiculous as a solution. When the automatic unlock doesn't work, we need a manual way to unlock an account.
