what is the point of a Network Attached Storage if the network part of it will no longer work?

The Local Area Network is available & fully functional so the NAS will operate within it, but with Security Isolation Mode enabled, anything that needs to communicate with the Internet/Wide Area Network will fail because of the restrictions from said mode; it's easier/quicker to use this mode versus individually restricting each shared folder by IP address/range.

Isolation Mode is really best used in a situation where the data is remaining local to that network & backups of that data are being performed manually to external storage media.

But in most use cases, this Isolation Mode is likely not ideal.

Sorry, the network connection here is the internet mentioned earlier, and the local area network is not affected.
