TerraMaster finally resolved this issue with a firmware/OS update after 6 months. if you update to TOS 4.2.39 it resolves most domain join and user/group account issues. the sync still takes a while. but it does work.

I bought 5 of these thing for remote offices because Terramaster had 10GB ethernet and domain level security for file shares. had i known they would be this much trouble and that it would take 6 months to get it fixed. i would have gone with QNAP or Synology instead.

I am glad you were able to get yours working. I am on version 4.2.39 and still not able to pull user's from my domain.

The authentication tool for domain and LDAP has been changed in TOS 5, it could be more stable, please try TOS 5.
