Maybe you can check to see if the router has anything set.
Well, could be any piece on the network but it does not explain why the only events that make the update to propagate are always linked to an operation on the NAS itself (rebooting the NAS, reinstalling the multimedia server).
NAS to PC ethernet route is just a switch in-between
