SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
Recently i accidentally plugged off d2-320 while it was sleeping (It wasn't plugged to my mac). After that, i can't read SMART data and truly unmount RAID (Terminal says, that i unmounted it, but it still appears in diskutil list after that). My HDDs is 2TB WD Red Plus. What should i do? Restarting and 10 minute power-off didn't helped. I saw advice about clearing cache with diskutil clearCache, but this command doesn't exist in MacOS Tahoe.
Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
Hello, what are the current statuses of all the indicator lights and fans on the front of the device?
What screenshot does the disk management tool show?
Please check if there's a problem with the hard drive. You can first check the USB connection; try changing the USB port or the 0.3-0.5m data cable.

Everything except of SMART data is working fine. Changing ports and cables doesn’t help.OrionXie wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026, 23:35Hello, what are the current statuses of all the indicator lights and fans on the front of the device?

And disk managment tool (Disk utility) says basically nothing. I wanted to run first aid, I will show screenshots laterOrionXie wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026, 23:35Hello, what are the current statuses of all the indicator lights and fans on the front of the device?

Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
For some reason i can't apply pictures, but first aid showed some problems at backup folder (For time machine). I deleted and rewrote it. Main folder was ok.Findly wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026, 02:25And disk managment tool (Disk utility) says basically nothing. Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
From your description, it seems to have caused issues with the file system simultaneously. Can you see the Smart values now? What RAID type is your D2-320 using?

Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
Only on the folder with time machine files. Main folder with regular files were fine. I use RAID 1 configuration. My inability to see SMART values is the main concern, because of which i created this topic. Terminal says ''Smartctl open device: disk4 failed: Operation not supported by device''. I suspect, that from this moment i will need to plug-in my disks to external hub, to bypass controller and check SMART values or backup all files and rebuild RAID from scratch by pressing reset button on the back.
Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
The D2-320 product allows computers to read SMART information only when in single-disk mode. In other RAID modes, the operating system recognizes the virtual disk presented by the RAID controller rather than the actual physical hard drives. Since SMART commands need to be sent directly to the physical hard drives, and the RAID controller blocks this transmission path, it is impossible to read the SMART data.

Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
And how can i unblock it? By resetting RAID and erasing data? I mean data of a virtual RAID driveTMjack wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026, 14:54 The D2-320 product allows computers to read SMART information only when in single-disk mode. Re: SMART data doesn't show up after power loss
The D2-320 product allows a computer to properly read the SMART information of the hard drive only in single mode. If it is in any other RAID mode, retrieving the hard drive's SMART information will not be possible. If your device is not currently in single-disk mode, you need to adjust the RAID configuration to "single" mode to enable reading SMART information. However, please note that resetting the RAID mode will result in the deletion of all data on the hard drive. Be sure to back up your data in advance.
