zero notifcation of drive failing

second time this has happened.
where system give zero notification on a drive issue.
Until i go to storage pool page on os.

k . so its a known issue on my model then?
seeing am now moving all data off the device.
going forward it will be nothing more then a temp data nas.

anyhow yeah. i dont trust this model of nas anymore.
i was wondering why it keep going on deep discount sale on amazon...
anyhow i switch all data on a better manf of nas.

Generally, for any piece of tech, take a quick look on Ebay and see which models are being sold off 'used'. They are, inevitably, the unpopular ones or the ones that have been superceded or are just relatively 'old tech'.

You bought the cheapest model from TerraMaster & likely just as realtek dropped support for its SoC, so with the worst timing.

If you'd put the same effort you are doing so now, by making inquiries, you'd likely have bought an ×86/×64 based NAS with wider and even alternate support options, so you weren't stuck.

“Better manufacturer” is only going to hold true that's followed through with support and standing behind their product(s).

None of these NAS manufacturers put much attention into their entry level consumer offerings; it's their higher models or commercial products into which they actually throw resources.

bulk storage usage. nothing else. that all it used for. this was in covid times to.
but it does seem this model had a issue and they simple stop manf after og stock was made.
