Disk failure? Or normal?

Post by sai »

The RAIDManager Pro event on the D5-330 outputs a message indicating an abnormality on the second slot hard disk.
However, the status of the second slot hard disk checked in the physical tab is normal.
Does this mean that the second slot hard disk has failed?
Or is this information a failure prediction that it might fail?
Or is this a temporary error and can be left alone?
The events are as follows

writeエラーがディスク'HGST HUH721010ALE604-1SGJYZVZ' at RAID 1-Channel2で発生しました: LBA 0x9af41880 セクター0x80.

We suggest that you do not ignore this error, as it generally indicates a problem with the hard drive. You can also use hard drive tools to test it:

Attention needed for your disk in D5-330! While the physical tab might show "normal," the RAIDManager Pro event indicating a write error on the second slot (HGST disk) can't be ignored. Here's what it could mean:

Potential Failure: The write error could be a precursor to disk failure. Don't dismiss it as a temporary error.
Predictive Warning: While less likely, it might be a predictive warning from the RAID system. However, it's still wise to take action.

The RAID Manager Pro event on your D5-330 is definitely cause for concern, but it doesn't necessarily mean the disk has completely failed just yet. Here's a breakdown of the situation:

The Message:

"writeエラー" (kaite erā) translates to "write error."
This indicates the RAID system encountered an issue while trying to write data to sector 0x80 of LBA (Logical Block Address) 0x9af41880 on the second slot hard disk ("HGST HUH721010ALE604-1SGJYZVZ").
Possible Scenarios:

Early Warning Sign:
This write error could be a precursor to a future disk failure. It's a good idea to back up your data as soon as possible.
Temporary Error:
Less likely, but possible. Sometimes errors can occur due to software glitches or communication issues.
What to Do:

Check SMART Status:
Look for a "SMART Status" option in the RAID Manager Pro for the second disk. SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) can indicate potential drive health issues.
Backup Data:
Regardless of the cause, a write error suggests potential instability. It's crucial to back up your important data immediately.
Consider a Disk Replacement:
If the SMART Status shows warnings or the errors persist, consider replacing the second hard disk to prevent a potential data loss scenario.
