D6-320 NOT Connecting (Linux Mint 21)

Post by somedudeinaz »

Just got my shiny ne D6-320 and hooked it up.

Nothin.

Specifically I plugged HDDs with data and nothing was recognized. Drives not detected. Swapped cables. Nope.

Pulled out a separate usb ssd and plugged it into the same usb port - worked fine

Swapped cables again - still works.

Tried the D6 again - nothing.

Scenarios tested:

Power off D6, plug in USB cable, power on D6 => nothing
Power on D6, plug in USB cable => nothing

plug drives into a different usb caddy (Mobius 5-Bay: https://oyendigital.com/hard-drives/sto ... EB3-M.html) drives work fine.

Can't find the "edit" button...

Just shut the box down and pulled the drives. They were HOT. I know the fan was spinning...but they were still hot. When I pulled them from the mobius, they weren't

Make sure you use a good cable. Make sure you have a USB 3.0 port on your Linux.

Thanks for getting back so fast

got things "sorta" working.
USB c Port: usb3.2 10gb

Cables:
1) Original TM - Packaged with D6. Did not work when tried 1st time
2) usb3.2x2 - 20gbs - Never got it to work

Shut down and swap out the drives. Load the d6 with 6xSeagate exos 20tb (why I bought it in the 1st place). Go back to original cable.

turn on d6

after a few minutes lsusb shows the controller

now I have to figure out why I can't actually do anything like partition or format the drives...

Assuming I get that figured out and this was all a cable issue can you reccomend any good cables? I need a longer one

OK, I can't even get into the system to partition the drives.

As I said before, lsblk eventually showed the drives. but I keep getting "reset errors" - which matches what @hornseye describes in this forum post here:

viewtopic.php?f=67&t=5717#p32759

So the cable I used is the exact one I saw him reference (bought it at the same time as I bought the d6 - I read the forum befor purchasing ;) )

Swapped the cables around again and still had issues.

So I just now popped 5 of the drives into my Mobius and they are working perfectly. I'm able to partition and format and use them.

So I'm going to assume I have a faulty unit and return to amazon for a swap.

I'll be back when I get the replacement.
