I‘ve been using a Synology DS220 with 2 Seagate ST12000VN0008 (12TB) drives in a RAID1 configuration, but decided to move to a DAS.
So I ordered the TeraMaster TD2 Thunderbolt 3. Computer is a 2023 Mac mini with an M2 Pro running Sonoma.
To make the migration easy, I would very much like to
1. remove one of the 12TB drives from the NAS
2. insert this drive in the TD2
3. Set the switch to RAID1
4. Reset the TD2
5. Format/Erase the drive
6. Copy everything form the DS220 to the TD2
7. Remove the other drive from the DS220
8. Put it in the TD2
9. Wait 20 hours or so for the RAID to rebuilt
The question is: will this work? Or is there another way to do the migration without an intermediate storage?
Moving from NAS to DAS
Re: Moving from NAS to DAS
Hello, creating RAID1 on the D2 Thunderbolt 3 model requires the use of two disks simultaneously.
So unfortunately, your idea cannot be realized.
