Stuck on "loading please wait"

F5-221 on 5.1.24 suddenly lost the content of my shared folders and file manager, so restarted and now can't access via the usual TOS desktop, so tried a reinstallation by removing the HDDs but now stuck on the "loading ...please wait" and reinitialise what else can I do?

Turns out despite browser cache set to be cleared on exit it had somehow become switched off hence the hang so that's OK and reinitialised now, but that doesn't explain the absence of the files in file manager and shared files??
