F2-210 Installing PiHole and Heimdall

Post by kernow »

Hi all, new to this forum, I am delighted with my new Terramaster F210 and I thought I might add a few notes as to how I’ve installed Pihole & Heimdall in Docker using portainer.

I hope this post is of use to others, I’m no expert on Docker or Portainer and most of my knowledge stems from using Raspberry Pi’s running Openmediavalt with Docker and Portainer.

I changed to this base model Terramaster as money is tight in today’s climate and I wanted a more robust solution my Music, Video, Photos and Documents collections.

I installed docker and portainer from the app store It should be noted that portainer is still in beta and a bit out of date but for the most part works well apart from the terminal of each container.
In Portainer I went down to setting and changed the Url for the App Templates to: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/pi-ho ... arm64.json
This list of templates has been created by a host of very knowledgeable Docker and Portainer developers, for ARM based single board computers.
The full github is here : https://github.com/pi-hosted/pi-hosted# ... emplate-v2

As my F2 210 is arm based I thought let give it a go and the two Docker apps I particularly wanted to have worked without any problems.

I add that for Pihole you will need to extract the password from the log files, Please read the https://github.com/pi-hosted/pi-hosted/ ... pi-hole.md Notes.

Let me and others know how you get on if you give it a try
Regards

Sorry, i also dont know how to access the logs, but you can set the password as environment variable
WEBPASSWORD and log in with this. That's the way i've installed pihole.

They mean for you to click on the blue writing (Pihole) of the running container it its the first section you come to when the page opens and you need to stop the logs from refershing while look for the password that was generated.

Your way is probably a lot easier
