Ability to have total control of my files

Post by TerraNAS92 »

Hi,

Once my TOS is launched and created, I find myself with a bunch of files in the "File Manager" that I can not delete.

Does this mean that I do not have total control over what is stored in this NAS ?

Is there a way to reinitialize the whole storage ?

I think I do not get theway files are organized in a NAS :-(

If you can help me out, I'd be grateful.

Sorry to Post here but of course, Terra Master does not allow me to post anywhere else...

Have you checked the permissions for the account you have logged in with. Need to grant full read/write privileges.

Hi Titan,

Thanks a lot for taking time to answer and try to help me.

Yes, I have checked that and the user under which I am logged in has Read/Write access to those files.

So not sure what is going on here :-(

Any other idea ?

Regards.

Hi,

Is there at least a way to erase EVERYTHING and resetting the whole NAS ?

I have gone to Dashboard and selected "Factory reset".

NAS has rebooted and I re-installed the system. But once that has been done and I re-installed the system, drive is still with my files and everything related. And I simply can not log in as "admin" or "root" so I can't perform a lot of things I'd like to do :-(

I think the minimum would be to have the ability to create a RAID0 instead of a RAID1 or vice-versa...

Even really old NAS'es like a LaCie 5Big had that ability. Why not a "modern" NAS like the TerraMaster F4-422 ?

Hi,

OK. Found how to do it.

You have to erase Volumes and Pool.

And then recreate them and there you go... All files deleted.

I hope that will help to retrieve the Plex server that other wise keeps asking to hit "Reclaim server" which never finishes...

Regards.

Hi,

It is me again.

It looks like TOS 5.0 is not compatible with Plex Media Server.
Each time I started the Plex Media Server it said something about claiming the server and that, of course, failed each time I tried it...

I think that requires to connect as the old ID and as I choose admin that can't be chosen anymore with TOS 5.0 !

So I went back to TOS 4.0 and guess what ?
Erasing Volumes in TOS 4.0 does not work.
It says "Erasing..." and when it's done, the Volumes show back again...

I am asking myself how this can be so complicated :-(
Is it me doing something wrong ?
Or is TOS 4.0 a huge bug on a really primal command ?

If someone would be skilled enough to help me out, I'd appreciate it as TerraMaster seems to be of no help :-(

Regards.
