Warning!

1. The TOS 6.0.420 version adopts a new root file system, fully compatible with the Ubuntu 22.04 root file system. However, please note that all your previous system configurations will be cleared after the update. Do not proceed with this update if you need to retain your existing configurations.
2. This update is only applicable to TOS 5.1.145 or later versions.
3. The system will restart twice during the update process, which will take approximately 10-20 minutes. Please be patient and do not force shutdown or unplug the power during the update.
4. Due to hardware limitations, some older models are unable to update to TOS 6. Users of these models are advised not to attempt the update to TOS 6. The specific models include: F2-220, F4-220, F2-420, F4-420, F5-420, as well as the 221 series with a manufacturing date in Jun 2020 or earlier, which includes: F2-221, F2-421, F4-221, F5-221, F5-421.

Precautions:

1. The Beta version is an early version of the program, containing most major functions but not yet completed, and may have some defects. This version is only released to specific groups or the general public for testing and feedback collection; the Beta version should not be used in work or production environments. If your TNAS device is running business operations or storing important data, please refrain from participating in this test.
2. Updating the system theoretically will not affect the data on your hard drive, but for safety reasons, please be sure to back up your data in advance.
3. The update process will completely reset the system partition, clearing your previous system configurations. Even if you backed up the system configuration files before the update, these backups cannot be restored in the updated system.
4. After the system update, some of your installed applications will need to be updated or reconfigured to run correctly on the new system. For applications downloaded from the community, you may need to download and install the latest versions again.
5. Due to changes in the implementation mechanism of Hyper Cache, you will need to recreate Hyper Cache after the update. It is recommended to delete the existing Hyper Cache before updating.
6. After the update, download the latest version of TNAS PC for Windows or TNAS PC for macOS from the TOS App Center to avoid compatibility issues.
7. After the update, register a TerraMaster account in the Remote Access section of the Control Panel to reconfigure TNAS.online.
8. Rebuild the media index to use related functions normally after the update.
9. After the update, applications like Plex and Emby require reconfiguring the user permissions for the shared folders.
10. After the update, the configuration of your VPN Server and multimedia server will be cleared. Reconfigure these applications after updating.
11. Before the update, update the TFM Backup application to the latest version. If not updated, your application configuration will be cleared after the system update, and you will need to reconfigure after updating the system.
12. If you have modified the BIOS boot order, set the BIOS boot order to prioritize TOS before updating.
13. Applications that depend on the database need to be reconfigured to use after the update.
14. Before updating, ensure that your primary volume (usually volume1) has at least 3GB of available space. Insufficient storage space may cause the update to fail.
15. During the update process, please refrain from performing any actions. If an initialization page appears after an action, kindly wait patiently and do not click any buttons.
16. As the USB boot will be updated during the system update, once updated to TOS 6.0.420, your device will no longer be able to install the TOS 5 system.
17. After the system update, the application information needs to be reinitialized. Therefore, after entering the system, you may need to wait 1-3 minutes before you can normally start and install applications.
18. The IP address of your TNAS may change after the update. Use the TNAS PC desktop client to search and connect to the device again.

No changelog from previous 229?

By the way some things notised on this version (updated from 229):
- After first boot of new verision process usbhid-ups eats around ~99% of CPU ("enable ups support" option get disabled after update)
- After enanbling "enable ups support" option CPU utilizationa of usbhid-ups process drops to ~76%
- And only after manual reboot usbhid-ups process back to ~3%

- Cant enable "Docker Engine" (20.10.17, 2024.06.12) anymore. App update needed (no update in App center)?

Hello, after update to TOS 6.0.420 on my F2-221 the both HDD leds have look red and at status of HDD doesn't show faults.

Docker Engine started after restarting the App center, thanks!

Found this bug, I have one NVME installed in the first slot but it is not being counted:
