Problem with RAID Manager of D5-300 not compatible with macOS 14.X/15.X

Post by TMzethar »

Troubleshooting

Applicable models
D5-300

Problem analysis
Due to the update of MacOS, the specialized software RAID Mnanger for D5-300 devices cannot run on MacOS 14.X/15.X. The software RAID Mnanger is not compatible with MacOS 14.X/15.X.

Solution
You can use the following methods to solve the problem:
1. Connect the D5-300 to Windows OS to run RAID Manager or connect it to MacOS 14.X or earlier version to run it.
2. If you have MacOS 14.X or above, it is recommended to use RAID Manager to create RAID mode on Windows OS before returning to MacOS 14.X or above to format the partition for use.

Note: The D5-300 product creates and modifies array modes through the RAID Manager management software. If you do not need to create or modify arrays, the D5-300 product can still be used on Mac computers.

From your proposed work arounds, it implies that the Mac recognises the Raid, however my M3 MacBook Pro does not recognise the raid at all.

I'd like to second this. For me, my raided drives are not recognized as well.

I installed the 2 disk RAID1 set with an old version of MacOS, and it worked, so I started to use it and push lot of data into the RAID volume. Now, basically between the step 3 and 4 of your workaround procedure I put lot of data into the disk and then step 5 does not make any sense to me, I do not want to format the disk.
When will the new version of the RAID manager be released?
Thanks

If you decide to give up the hope of ever seeing your data on this disk again, just let the Mac format the disk and dump the RAID Manager app. The disk will show up as a large external hard drive.
I've resigned myself to using my D5-300 as a Time Machine backup.

It's been half a year now... I'm cutting bait.
I trusted Terramaster, but it seems that that was my mistake.
I'm now just looking for a way to recover my data that seems to be held hostage and remove it completely.
For the amount of money invested in this product, I have really had nothing but headaches and disappointment in the software aspect of everything.
I feel the hardware would be fine if there was the support to back it up.
It seems that every update that comes from Mac, Windows, or anyone always seems to catch Terramaster by surprise, and it is months if not years before they catch up... and of course by that time the various OSs have moved on.
I'm not even angry, just disappointed... and like a high school break up, I just want my stuff back, and I wish you well.

It's been almost 8 months. I still cannot connect my MAC Sonoma 14.5 to my Terra Master RAS. My MAC doesn't even see the drive. I have 42 Tbs on the Terra Master. Do you have an estimate on when you expect to have a new version of the RAID Manager management software or at least a new driver so that I can access my drive. I use my system for back of up my photos and I have not been able to access, to copy too or back up the drive.

Please provide an estimate on when I should expect to be able to connect to my drives. Thank you.

Have you completed the initial setup of the array through RAID Manager on Windows or lower versions of macOS?

I tried connecting to a PC, but was not successful in connecting to it and seeing it as an external drive. Regardless, It' not a virgin drive. I have a lot of data on the drive and don't really want to risk my data by reconfiguring the RAID partition or reformatting my drive. Won't I lose my data if I do that?
