Failed to map network drive with TNAS PC?

Post by TMSupport »

Troubleshooting

If you failed to map a network drive with TNAS PC, please ensure that:

1. Using the best adapted version of TNAS PC for the TOS version:
TOS 4.x: https://download2.terra-master.com/Terr ... .2.0.6.zip
TOS 5.x: https://download2.terra-master.com/TNAS ... 5.0.35.exe

2. SMB service has been enabled. Please check at TOS Control panel – network services – file service- SMB/CIFS service, please uncheck it and click apply then recheck it again and click apply. Please try to map the drive again.

3. No special characters in your TOS login password such as ' ". Please revise your password by clicking “admin” at the top right corner of TOS webpage to remove ' "and try mapping the drive again.

4. “Remember my credentials” has been checked when entering the password, otherwise your mapped drive would be disappeared after rebooting your computer.

5. You have “Read & Write” full permission to the folder you selected, or you will be prompted as “Configuration failed error code 1202”. You can change the permission at TOS Control panel – Privileges – shared folder.

6. Please go to Windows "credential manager", delete the current remembered TNAS credential and try again.

7. If none of the above is working, please SMB access your TNAS by entering \\TNAS IP address into Windows File Explorer, right click a shared folder in your TNAS and select "Map network drive" from the list.

Hi, I've attempted to follow documentation and advice on how to setup and map to my network drive and I'm not having any luck :(

I have recently got an FS-210, and the following applies:

On windows 10
via the TNAS PC App
my device is detected and appears in the list
I can access my device via web browser
I cannot map network drives
I cannot access via file or SMB
I have turned on SMB windows features
I have toggled IPv6 enabled/disabled
I have tried on private/public ethernet
I have rebooted and tried and tried again.
I have removed and re-added login credentials

I have followed methods for setting login like suggested here

When I attempt to map a network drive, I am prompted to login twice, and nothing happens.

When I attempt to access my device via SMB using \\<device IP>\ or \\tnas-449b\ I get 0x80004005 unspecified error response.

I have been able to transfer files to my drive via a mac.
I have been able to use the internet browser admin on any device.
I am using an account of <username> in place of admin, as that is how I configured my device on startup.

I have followed guides such as here and it has had no effect:

Edit: I've fixed it.

I needed via my browser to my drive's control panel -> File Service -> SMB/CIFS file service and click enable. That sorted it immediately.

So I've disabled and re-enabled SMB,
installed SMB on win 11, rebooted,
No special characters, remember credentials, etc etc.
File sharing is enabled in Win.

When I go to explorer to map a drive, I can only see my PC with a + to expand by it's side, no expansion happens.

I can see the nas in NETWORK in explorer. I can log into TNAS fine, and browse files!

Any advice appreciated please, this worked FINE before win11!
