Set read and write permissions for shared folders but it does not take effect?

Post by TMSupport »

Troubleshooting

The permission of the shared folder is set to read and write permissions but it does not take effect. If you check the permission again, it became unchecked.

Analysis:
When the capacity of shared folder is too large, setting permissions will execute "chmod -R" to replace the permissions of all subdirectories and files. This process is relatively slow;
A file system with read-only permissions will cause the system to be unable to modify the permissions of the folder.

Judgment:
1. The internal data capacity of the shared folder is too large and the process is slow
2. File system with read-only permissions
3. Directory is damaged

Solutions:
1. After setting the permissions, wait a few more minutes. It may take longer to grant permissions for a single folder with a capacity of more than 1T. It is recommended that you try not to put too much data into a shared folder.
2. Unable to install any applications, unable to transfer any data to the NAS, unable to create or modify files or directories, prompt "read only", "cannot write", "no write permission", and judged as a read-only file system.
Please back up data, delete volumes and storage pools, and recreate new storage pools and volumes.
