F5-221 on TOS 5 - Processes unreadable

Post by sanctimon »

Is it just me or is the fact that "Processes" within settings is completely useless, given it auto-refreshes every second?

There is really no way to read which processes are using CPU or other resources, as the list refreshes and the view disappears.

The page refreshes every 10 seconds, and the process CPU usage changes every second, The cup usage of many processes only happens in a split second, when you found a process disappears that means it disappears.

Have you actually seen the processes screen?

It does not renew every 10 seconds, rather every 4 - 5 seconds.

The biggest problem is not the refresh itself, but when the screen refreshes, it completely resets the view, so if you were watching a process, the screen rolls all the way up again and your monitored process is lost. The process is still there, but you need to scroll down to see it. By the time you get to it, the screen updates again.

In addition, sorting the processes so you can see them, for example, listed by CPU also resets when the screen refreshes after 4-5 seconds.

The above make the process screen completely useless.

Please see video here.

Top and htop in termina work a lot better, but guess what? You only get to have top on TOS 5 and if your screen is small enough, it is also not particularly helpful.
