Hi,
My Nas is F2-221 TOS version 4.1.24
I have some issues updating virus definition of ClamAV, it always report that virus definition are from November 7 2019.
I have found the definitions here:
[root@CASA ~]# find / -name *.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/pkgs/clamav/usr/local/share/clamav/bytecode.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/pkgs/clamav/usr/local/share/clamav/daily.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/pkgs/clamav/usr/local/share/clamav/main.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/share/clamav/bytecode.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/share/clamav/daily.cvd
/mnt/md0/application/share/clamav/main.cvd
and the files properties are the below:
total 164M ~]# ls -lash /mnt/md0/application/pkgs/clamav/usr/local/share/clamav/
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 58 Nov 11 2019 .
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 12 Jul 26 2019 ..
292K -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 290K Nov 11 2019 bytecode.cvd
51M -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 51M Nov 11 2019 daily.cvd
113M -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 113M Nov 11 2019 main.cvd
[root@CASA ~]# ls -lash /mnt/md0/application/share/clamav/
total 164M
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 94 Jul 10 15:48 .
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 12 Jul 10 08:47 ..
292K -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 290K Jul 10 15:48 bytecode.cvd
51M -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 51M Jul 10 15:48 daily.cvd
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 10 08:53 isolation
113M -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 113M Jul 10 15:48 main.cvd
0 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Jul 21 19:34 tmp
0 -rw-r--r--
trying to update as suggested on the internet:
[root@CASA ~]# freshclam
ERROR: Can't open /var/log/freshclam.log in append mode (check permissions!).
ERROR: Problem with internal logger (UpdateLogFile = /var/log/freshclam.log).
ERROR: initialize: libfreshclam init failed.
ERROR: Initialization error!
WARNING: [LibClamAV] cli_rmdirs: Can't remove temporary directory /usr/local/sh/
****WORKAROUND****
The only way I found to have the AV up to date is to
- download the latest definition from http://www.clamwin.com/content/view/58/27/
- using winscp to copy the files into the 2 folders
/mnt/md0/application/pkgs/clamav/usr/local/share/clamav/ and /mnt/md0/application/share/clamav/
Is possible to have the automatic upgrade working properly?
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but nothing.
Thanks for any help
How to update Clam AV
Re: How to update Clam AV
Wow, I've literally just been looking in to this issue myself, talk about coincidence.
What I've found is that the latest versions of ClamAV use https to download the definition updates but the TOS operating system doesn't appear to be setup to allow this correctly, /etc/ssl/certs folder is empty for example.
The solution I've found is to edit the file /etc/freshclam.conf and add http:// in front of database mirror line.
This isn't a recommended solution though as it's likely to be overwritten by any updates. Terramaster support need to make this change in the ClamAV TOS package OR preferably, configure openssl to have a store of root ssl certificates installed.
@TMroy - something to add to the future bug fix/feature list?

Re: How to update Clam AV
Any advice for those of us who depend on the TNAS interface? ClamAV is still running on July 2020 definitions and automatic updates are supposedly enabled.

Using this fix, works for me, and it even survived some OS and app updates.DiscoSi wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 03:48 Wow, I've literally just been looking in to this issue myself, talk about coincidence.

Definitively a good workaround.

Re: How to update Clam AV
Can anyone advise how I browse to these locations on the TNAS?
I can only see folders like appdata, Music, Photo, public and Video...
