Hi everyone,
Following the most recent news regarding the SMR drives from WD (list of all companies and drives here https://www.ixsystems.com/community/res ... rives.141/), do you still recommend as per the compatibility page (https://www.terra-master.com/global/compatibility/) that all the drives within that list are still compatible and recommended for your DAS devices?
I own a D2-310 and currently using 2xWD Red 4TB.
If not, do you have any alternatives that run as quiet as the Red ones do? I've tried the Ironwolf series in the past and they were pretty noisy for a home office environment.
Thanks a lot,
Kay

Re: WD Red SMR drives
Hi Kay,
So far, there is no clear evidence that the SMR drive will cause a serious impact on the FAT 32/NTFS/EXT 4/btrfs file system. We currently have no plans to modify the recommended hard drive list.

Hi TMroy,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
I should have probably mentioned it in my original post, that my primary OS is MacOS and the drives have been formatted as HFS.
Wondering if you purposely left out any MacOS native file systems from your reply, or just for the sake of brevity?
Thank you,
K
