D2 TB3 Blackmagic Test

Post by NZFlax »

Hello

I have a D2 TB3 connected directly to an iMac (19,1) running Big Sur 11.6.

The D2 has two Toshiba x300 6TB HDDs (7200 rpm, 128 mb buffer) RAID 1.

When using the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app I get an average (3x tests, 3GB stress) 102.2 Write and 118.4 Read.

Is this what you would expect of this combination of HDDs and D2 TB3?

That is to say is this a good or poor result?

Thanks for your time.

Hello, this result is lower than the speed of this type of hard disk, maybe there is a bad HHD in RAID1 that affects the speed. You are advised to back up your data and test each one in Single mode. If possible, please also install the HHDs on another device to test.

Thanks very much for the reply.

Using a StarTech S351BU313, USB 3.1 (10 Gbps)) enclosure:

HDD02 Write 200.2, Read 204.9.
HDD01 is at fault Write: 98.3, Read 120.3

_____________________________________________________________

But now I have another issue:

While in the D2, HDD02 in Bay 02 LED lit up red. I reset it and it has returned to green.

So as far as I can fathom HDD02 has now been initialised.

Big Sur asked me if I wanted to "Eject, Ignore or Initialise" the drive. I chose "Ignore", because I thought the TerraMaster unit would take over...

The unit is in RAID01 so the expectation was for HDD01 to rebuild HDD02.

This is not happening.

The HDD 2 Led should be flickering orange, but it sits there in green.

Using Disk Utility, I tried to repair the HDDs, but only HDD01 responds. If it were RAID01, both green LEDs would flash away in unison.

So how do I get HDD01 to rebuild HDD02?

Cheers.

I use my D5 TB for BM Resolve.

Only to realise you are talking about the speedtest software.
Opps, got excited.

Can post results of mine later on today.
Got a mixture of HD, running on a 2017 iMac.
