Starting with TD2 Thunderbold 3 Plus

Post by JPV »

Hi,

Starting with TD2 Thunderbolt 3 Plus raises questions :

1/ my TD2 Thunderbolt 3 Plus must be connected to a MacBook Pro (late 2013) which is equipped with Thunderbolt 2 connector.
So, I use an Apple adaptor Thunderbolt 3 (connected to TD2) to Thunderbolt 2 (connected to the Mac).
The TD2 is seen from the MBP and RAID1 disk access works fine.
But how to update the TOS ?

Is there an utility (such as TNAS PC utility) available onto Apple OS ?

2/ connecting the TD2 LAN connector to the Apple MBP.
The TD2 is not seen onto the network.

3/ When TD2 is connected to a PC (via Thunderbolt 3), it isn't seen.
TNAS PC utility (only for PC ?) doesn't see the TD2, either via Thunderbolt or LAN

Thanks for your help.

TD2 Thunderbold 3 Plus is a DAS model instead of NAS model.

TNAS PC only work with NAS series of models, not for DAS. The same TOS is the OS for NAS not for DAS, your TD2 Thunderbold 3 Plus does not need a OS, it is a direct attach storage, just plug and play.

The LAN port on TD2 Thunderbold 3 Plus is not the port to connect your TD2 Thunderbold 3 Plus to network and share the storage, it is a LAN port need to be connected to your router or switch and provide cable network connection to your computer which doesnot equipped with LAN port.

I have similar issue. I connect the LAN port to a router with a LAN cable. There are 2 LEDs. The amber one is flashing while the green one is always on. However, when I check my Macbook Air network, it is not connected. I am sure the LAN cable and my router is working as I had tested with another laptop.

By the way, this is brand new that I just received via Amazon.
