"Note: Mac OS computers do not support RAID online expansion"

Post by edgley »

Hi,

Does this mean if I build an array with just three disks, as I am using a Mac, I cannot then add another two disks and expand the array?

thanks.

Please tell us your equipment model. And, where do you see such a prompt?

In fact, D5-TD3 supports expansion and migration, but due to the limitations of MacOS, it cannot be implemented on MacOS. You can consider connecting to WindowsOS for expansion or migration, and then connect back to MacOS to continue using it.

Strange, cos I added another disk and it is migrating it in right now.
However, its been running for 7 hours and has only done 13%.

It is saying it will taken another 47 hours.
However, it is currently taking and hour to do only 2%!

Which means it will take 50 hours to add a fourth 4gb disk.
Or, put another way, over TWO days!

Hi Edgley, i ve got the same problem, i m on mac os Catalina, i ve got a Terra Master D5 thunderbolt since 2 years with 3 hard drive of 10To in RAID 5 mode, i've just bought a new one of 10 TO again, i did everything to add it, everything seems ok but i'm still have only 20 TO and not 30 TO of space and impossible to change the size with disk utility that is stuck at 20 TO. In the RAID MANAGER PRO i've got my 4 hard drives, and the status is MIGRATING since 1 hour 0% and time remaining vary from 72h to 19h... I join a screen shot of my computer. I don't know if sometrhing will happen and if at the end it will work. So did it work for you at the end ?
