Plex doesn't use Hardware Transcode on TOS 5

Post by foucomm »

My system is a F4-422 and i install TOS 5. Since i upgrade to TOS 5, my plex will not hardware transcode. As soon as i stream a video at a lower resolution, the system resource will go at almost 100%. But with version TOS 4.2, it will use 10% of the resource. That's why i think that the GPU is not accessible true PLEX. How do i fix this? And yes i do have Plex Pass.

What does Plex show (Settings/Transcoder)? If you have the Plex pass, and a CPU capable on the NAS (The F4-422 should be capable) then you should see hw transcoding.

plex user is not part of the video group (which have the right to use hw transcode)
TM will probably update the module asap

Till then, you can manually install the latest plex tpk

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=3425

or run in ssh:

Code: Select all

usermod -aG video "plex"

TM is relly working hard to make TOS5 a success and some things can be forgotten.
That's why we are here as a community.

You need to install Plex online in the App Center and try hardware transcoding again.

Yep. No problem with this one. Direct stream and software transcoding are working fine.
