The brand-new USB Copy not only provides common backup features, in order to realize offline backup and defend against threats from external networks, TerraMaster engineers have also additionally developed the USB auto-hide feature.

Start Backup when USB device is plugged in

Post by ckl »

Hi.

How do I get a backup to start automatically when I plug the usb drive into the tnas?

I've been having a problem with this functionality since the previous version. I have since updated to the latest version of USB copy, but it still doesn't seem to work.

I think I have setup the settings correctly.
usb copy -> settings -> start backup when usb device is plugged in (checked)
usb copy -> settings -> auto mount usb device before backup task starts (checked)
usb copy -> settings -> Eject the usb device when the backup is complete (unchecked)
usb copy -> settings -> Force usb device's disk to hibernate immediately after backup is complete (unchecked)
usb copy -> settings -> enable notification (both checked)

I have setup a backup task with the following settings
Name -> backup archive
backup method -> backup from tnas to usb
backup source -> /Volume1/archive
backup destination -> /usbshare1/Terramaster_backup/Backup

Backup Mode -> Incremental Backup
(all other options on this page disabled).

Backup Now (Checked)
Enabled Scheduled task (unchecked)

Enable File Filter (unchecked)

The backup doesn't start until I manually click the Start icon.

When I unplug the usb and plug it back in, the backup doesn't start. The system recognizes the usb and it is visible in File Manager. Usb copy backup tasks says "Enabled".

What am I missing?
