[Help] USB copy doesn´t remove disks

Post by anatol »

Hi,
I´m running a F8 SSD plus (TOS 6.0.650) in combination a D4-320 equipped with 3 WD red HDDs for backup via USB.
USB copy is configured to automatically mount the USB device (this works) and to remove the device when backup is done.
I usually run several jobs at the same time using all three HDDs.
Problem: USB copy only removes the last disk finishing the job.
Does anybody here see the same in a similar configuration? Is USB copy not able to manage more than one disk?

Thanks
guenni

I would like to correct you, it is 'Eject USB' instead of 'remove disk'. Eject USB means eject whole USB device, not the individual disk. Only when all backup tasks complete, the USB device can be ejected.

My USB extension has two USB disks and it can just eject the corresponding disk. Is the D4-320 a similar USB expansion device?

Hi sergio,
yes, its a expansion device with 4 disks, every disk can be controlled seperately. Only USB copy failes in ejecting single disks

Thanks TMroy, I used the wrong words.
In my case the whole device is not ejected after finishing all backup jobs but only the disk finishing last

Hi!
In USBcopy, the settings apply to all tasks. However, after each task is completed, the system will automatically check whether the USB is still in use by other tasks. The relevant settings will only take effect when no tasks are using the device.

You can check the number of USB devices recognized by the NAS after connecting the DAS by navigating to "Control Panel - USB Device." Additionally, please ensure that no other tasks are occupying the USB after the current task has stopped.

Thanks to all who responsed to my post.
What I found out with my configuration:
- NAS recognizes all disks
- After finishing the last backup job the USB device is not ejected, only the last disk finishing is removed
- Other disks finishing earlier are still mounted and recognized by NAS (and even Windows PC).
This is not the way I expected but I think it´s normal and not a fail. I think I will look for another way to run backups with the disks only active when necessary
Thank you all for your support
