Re-initialized NAS need to recover data

Post by ps2g45 »

After a number of issues with my F4-220, I finally pulled the drives and re-installed TOS. Now I have the storage pools as they were prior, but although they say that 600GB of my volume is in use, I can't see it. I restored the configuration using the TOS control panel, still no joy. The storage was created under a user that doesn't exist anymore - can I just recreate the user and have access to the ghost files?? N.B. The file system still has a home directory for this user - see screenshots attached...
MasterChief is the new account created when I re-initialized the box, GodOfWar is the "ghost" account that had all of the previous data. Now it has "home" and "recycle", both empty.

yes, you can create a user with the same name.
You can view the properties of the folder to see which one is taking up storage space.

User recreated and I can see all of the directories. Now the issue is that I can't see the two major directories - no permission to read. I have tried setting permissions with the properties but it doesn't have any effect. Can I fix this through TOS?

I had a look via SSH and the privileges seem to be set to allow read/write/execute, am I missing something? Here is the ls - l for both root and GodOfWar...
