Existing Time-Machine

Post by sanctimon »

What is the right process to add a TimeMachine external drive on a F5-221, so the backup can take place over the network?

I have an existing 2TB external Samsung drive. I have connected it via USB and is detected; I can even select it as a "TimeMachine" drive in settings.

However, two things are happening:
  • The CPU is constantly running over 90% with fsck_hfs process being the problem.
  • I can find the USB drive on the network when adding a shared folder on my Mac, but it does not see the previous backups and the "advanced options" so as to set it as time machine is greyed out.
