Testing RAID 1

Post by rychardperrett »

I recently installed a D2-310 and setup with Windows 10 was very easy. The two drives appear in the file manager as two separate E:\ drives so the system looks as if it is working. I copied some data to the RAID and then removed one of the drives to see what would happen. I did this to mimic the loss of a drive. I expected one single drive, the remaining drive, to appear in the file manager but in reality the RAID was missing completely from the file manager interface. This is worrying as in the avent of a loss of a single drive I need to know how to re-establish the RAID. There appears to be no thick client software shipped with the RAID to tell me what is going on when I lose a drive. Can anyone please tell me the best practice here? The system works great at the moment but I need to know how to handle the loss of a drive and my little experiemnt leaves me uneasy on this. Thank you in advance for any assistance.
