My TNAS is a F2-221 under TOS 5.1.37

Thanks
Regarding the problem that you cannot abandon the TNAS.online service, does the previous version also have this problem? It may be that your DNS has not resolved the server address. You can try to go to TOS>Control Panel>Network Interface, change the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
Or it is possible that the TNAS ID you are using has expired, please try to modify the TNAS ID. Sorry but the screenshots you provided are not very informative.

I also have a F5-221 with this TOS 5.1.37 update, HW transcoding works form me with Plex v1.32.1.6999 , however with versions v1.32.2.7100 & v1.32.3.7089 it does not.

Here they announced they will provide a solution: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=4655#p26822
So let's wait.
thank you

I am still unable to play anything from the multimedia server since 5.1.33. The folders and titles all list out on the screen as expected, but when you try to play an asset the screen is just blank and never starts.

I have restored to 5.1.24 -> 5.1.33 and multimedia works again.

Once I apply 5.1.34 or 5.1.37 multimedia no longer plays a movie.

Same issue on F4-421, fan control on AUTO worked much better in 5.1.34.

When the NAS was idle for an extended period, with HDDs spun down and device, cpu and hdd temps all sitting at 24degC the fan was spinning away at 1500rpm. After noticing this, I logged in to check; shortly after with rising temps (device=34degC, CPU=26degC, HDD=27degC) the fan stopped. I'm not running much other than SMB so the fan used to rarely kick in.

I ran security advisor a few times and a bad block scan to generate a bit of load and at (device=41degC, cpu=36degC, hdd=36degC) the fan kicked in at 868rpm. The fan stayed on for a few mins then stopped by which time temps had dropped to (device=37degC, cpu=33degC, hdd=35degC).

I remember going through the whole auto fan control issue with TOS 4.2.x, it took goodness knows how many releases to get it working correctly after some dev broke it, it would be nice not to go through that again. To the dev that made the tweak for 5.1.37, I'd suggest you should start looking at it again, its not totally broken but it also not right, have a look at the source for TOS 4.2.30 one of the fixes was "Optimized fan control during HDD hibernation", you need this.

May I know where is the problem?

This is exactly the same problem that I have. I also use only SMB and the media index. I just accessed the NAS via web interface and the fan went off (0 rpm). When I close the web interface, the fan starts up again after a few minutes. This I did 2 times and always had this behaviour. Maybe it is related to some standby functions.

TerraMaster has definitely changed something in the fan control:

  • Fixed the bug that the 450 series fan control did not work properly;
I wrote a bit with the support. The answers were:
  • We have not detected this problem, what is the TOS version of your TNAS? We suggest you update to the latest 5.1.37 and try again.
  • When you adjust to the smart mode, there will be a short time at about 1500 rpm, and it will return to the normal speed after a period of time, please wait for a while.
  • But the situation you mentioned is very special, and we cannot simply judge the problem. We can only roughly guess that it is a compatibility problem with this older model or a problem with the device itself.
  • We have not reproduced the situation you encountered.
After that, I did not write any more. In the meantime, I set the fan to "low speed" with an uncomfortable feeling.
