Do a custom install, (download the firmware first for NAS) then your data should be safe and will be there once TOS is reinstalled.
1. Switch NAS Off,
2. Take out drives
3. Download TOS and save to to your desktop etc
4. restart NAS (No drives)
5, using TNAS PC log into drive with a browser Make sure you choose custom install!
6. You should see a message about boot loader, wait for screen to update
7. Insert all drives one by one then wait a short while
8. it should now check drives for errors
9. Now point the file window at the TOS image you downloaded in step 3.
10. Let it install and reboot, setup user ID and password and your data SHOULD all be there. (As always make sure you have backups of important files).
Good luck

Any update when this will be available?
It's very tedious to work around the inability to access external drives via Windows SMB and I do not feel comfortable installing TOS5 yet.
