F2-220 Very Slow After last Firmware 4.1.2.1

Post by ofitec » 20 May 2020, 16:19

Dear you all,
As said in subject, last Sunday I updated from 4.0.0.9 to 4.1.2.1.
First all seem OK, but the next day, Monday, the 2 engineers that uses SolidWorks, notice that every file that Solidworks load from the NAS, was loaded very very slow, an archive that normally opens in 1 minute, now takes at least 10 minutes.
The rare thing, is that the files copy and paste, is normal at 100 mg/sec, but the loading from SolidWorks is at least X10 lowest.
If I try to return to the 4.0.0.9, it says that the archive won't be affected, but all configurations and applications must be installed and configured again. That's IS A LOT OF TIME / WORK. Will the IP / Workgroup / Users and permissions will be deleted ???
Please, answer me as soon as possible.
Yestereday I bought a new F2-421 and a 1TB SSD (don't have received yet), for be used only for the engineers and SolidWorks. Is the F2-421 uses the same TOS Versión ??
Attached a JPG Screenshot.
Regards.

Reinstallation will erase all the system configuration including created users and permissions.
And the TOS for F2-220 and F2-421 is the same, and hard drives in F2-220 could be used directly in F2-421 without formatting hard drives.

Thanks for the answer.
I want to use a 1TB SSD insite of the 256GB SSD that has been used since first start of the F2-220.
If I want to make a clone of the 256GB, what I have to do ?? I've tried in the past using windows clone programs, but windows doesn't seen nothing in there, so the OS is different.
Maybe connecting the new 1TB to the F2-220 as an external unit, and copy all files I want to move ??
Thanks.

To copy the data on 256GB SSD to 1TB SSD, you can doing followings:

1. Insert your new 1TB SSD to the same TNAS box installed with 256GB SSD;
2. Create a SINGLE disk and one new volume for the new SSD;
3. Copy your data from 256 GB SSD to 1TB SSD;
4. As soon as copy complete, you can remove your 256GB SSD.

Hello,
Thanks for the answer.
About the 4th point:
4. As soon as copy complete, you can remove your 256GB SSD.
OR, remove the new 1TB SSD and insert it to the new F2-421, then we will have the "old" F2-220 still working for general things / backups, and the new F2-421 with the most important files for "hard work". ISN'T IT ??
Thanks.

What this means?
"and the new F2-421 with the most important files for "hard work""

Hello,
It means that the new F2-421 will replace the F2-220, for the constant use of files with SolidWorks.
Can you please confirm my comment of my last post:
"Put the new 1TB SSD to the F2-220, create a single disk and new volume, copy all the files that I want to export, and then put the 1TB SSD to the new F2-421." Doing this, the new F2-421 will start working without problems and with no need of more configurations ??
Regards.

Yes, I confirm that you can put the new 1TB SSD to the new F2-421, that will work without problem and no need extra configuration.

Hello Again,
Today the new F2-421 has arrived. Unfortunately, same problem that we had with the F2-220.
You have a problem with the last Firmware 4.1.2.1.
I have installed the new 1TB SSD to the new F2-421, make the new 1tb volume, etc etc.
Copied a .rar pack file of SolidWorks drawing. Unrar and when trying to open with SolidWorks, it take ages to open, and sometimes not even that / stuck opening.
I have tried 5 times to downgrading to the 4.0.0.9 version. It seems that it wants to start the process, but after advertising that this will restore everything as factory, it remains stuck at 50% and nothing happens. See Attached file.
I'm so sorry, it's a shame that the last firmware has come with this bug / problem, so I can dedicate more time to solve that.
I have tried the same process, copy the SolidWorks files to another NAS of other brand, and the files opens as fast as they were opened with last TOS version and F2-220.
I will wait for 2 days, waiting for your answer and solution, then if it still doesn't working, I will return it for a refund.
At least if I could come back to the 4.0.0.9 version, I will remain in after a new stable not buggy version will arrive.
Waiting for your replay. Thanks and regards.

Sorry, so you want to run TOS4.0.09 for the time being? Please download the installation package from this link https://dl.terra-master.com/cn/TOS_S2.0 ... _VN178.ins and follow the instructions below to reinstall your TOS to 4.0.09:
Go to TOS Control panel > General settings > Update & Recovery > Restore to Factory Default ;
Follow the instructions to reinstall it after TNAS is rebooted;
Please select "Install a new TOS" and choose Manual download and install TOS.
