After verification we found that TOS 4.2.28 is not compatible with VirtualBox app. It is recommended that you reinstall the TOS 4.2.18 if you use VirtualBox.
Ouch! How could something that big make it past QA testing?

Even worse, installing the security update breaks your box. It is not just that VirtualBox doesn't work anymore -- your entire TNAS doesn't work until you reinstall TOS 4.2.18. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put a warning on 4.2.28 to not install because it will break your TNAS if you have VirtualBox installed!!!

Due to the exploit, this was very likely an even more rushed release than normal.
You should expect an out of band patch to resolve this if it's not just the application itself that's at fault.

My NAS is working fine after the update. I don't use VirtualBox though. The rest is fine.
Would anyone be able to check whether their HDDs are sleeping when using the smart fan setting on this newest update? Mine don't appear to be. I hadn't installed any new apps or changed any settings that'd prevent the drives from sleeping (except for changing the fan from low to smart), but it easily could be something on my end. I had this same issue on the previous release I was using and had to have the fan set to low for them to sleep. Just wanted to check if this was still an issue or just me. Thanks.
""3. If you are running vbox in TOS, please update the vbox before updating 4.2.28, otherwise, your system will fail irreparably!

Question : The link to VirtualBox is the same version as in the application store. Are you sure that this really works and the only difference is the "manual installation" instead of the installation via the integrated store ?
Has anyone tried it before ?
I am currently running TOS 4.2.28 but have not yet dared to install VBOX. But I need it urgently to work productively.
With kind regards

From this new versión fan is always on high speed in automatic Mode. If I pressed low speed and later automatic Mode, fan is slow for hours and later change to high in automatic Mode. Whith previous versión It was well.
