RAID 5 one hard drive damaged

Post by vlowflo »

Hi all,

product: F4-210 with RAID 5

I just bought my new Terra Master NAS with 4 hard drives. Everything is working pretty good but you never know what will happen in future. Therefore, I would like to know/understand what I need to do if one of my four hard drives are damaged. As far as I understand it with RAID 5 I have no data loss if only 1 hard drive is crashed.

So I will buy a new hard drive and exchange it with the faulty one and then my TNAS is working again? Or what I need to do step-by-step to exchange a hard drive in RAID5 without loosing any data?

Thank you for your help.
