what is the best way to backup Tnas f2-220?

Post by marcuzzo »

hi everyone, what is the best way to backup Tnas f2-220?
I have only one 4tb disk, but I have a used space of only 2tb, I have tried to backup on a 3tb exfat USB drive but the space is not enough (maybe I should use sectors smaller than 4096 by default?) And I believe that another 4tb exfat disc is not enough ..

Should I format it otherwise?

If I put it in the second free slot of the nas, can I make the backup from there? what filesystem is used? Could the disc be read by windows in case of failure of the tnas? Do you need any specific driver?

There are several ways to backup the data you store on the TNAS.
you can choose your backup destinations like, local folder, local RAID configuration, USB drive, remote TNAS, file server, or a cloud drive.

Use the application USB copy to create a backup task for your import folders to a USB drive, that will not require too much space on your USB drive.
as this backup method works by folder, that will mainly depend on the size of folder you plan to backup.

As the TNAS using the EXT4 or BTRFS file system, when you plugin a new drive into TNAS, the drive need to be reformatted. and be clear in your
mind. EXT4 or BTRFS file system are not readable on a windows os or mac os.
