Using the other services will not fulfill our needs for the unit. I plan to dis-assemble the unit over the weekend and submit a return. There is obviously an issue with blocking desktop folders from being created, as I've noticed from many other posts. I'm not interested in waiting for a firmware fix to make this unit usable for us. Blocking the creation of a desktop folder is, well, ridiculous.

just jumping in here, i can create a desktop folder on a share i have created, however using a user accounts default share regardless of what level you are in you get the error message

presumably because "desktop" means something to a nas drive user

one solution would be to create new shares for all your users, lock down the access to that user and then you should be able to create a folder called desktop as they arent user shares but general shares
