F5-422 limited to 40mb/sec writing speeds?

Post by codinghorror »

Hello!

I have a Terramaster F5-422, with 5 x 18tb WDC WD180EDFZ-11AFWA0 drives (all same model) installed in RAID 0 (stripe) with TOS version 4.2.09-2101251735.. see pics of my config below:

When transferring over the network via SMB..

... and also when transferring via USB..

my file writes (over ) are limited to 40mb/sec and I don't understand why.

I have all other network services disabled, I also have 3 other F5-422 devices that are configured identically and they do not have this problem (they write at much higher speeds!), so I am not sure why it is happening here.

I have tried "Restore to Factory Default", twice.. and the problem persists. Any advice?

Hi,
TNAS Control Panel>Network
Connected network cable (LAN ) Network Status showing: 100Mb/s or 1000Mb/s?

Yes it is showing 10000Mb/s, -, 1500 -- it is connected to a 10 gigabit port. See screenshot

I will try moving it to a different port though and see if that helps..

I think the F5-422 device has somehow become faulty (it used to work, it had an array of 12tb drives but I changed the drives to 18tb drives) since I have powered off, reinstalled OS, and problem persists exactly the same. I have purchased another one to test this theory.

However what else can I try to troubleshoot? This is quite painful, I need the 90tb of storage (5 x 18tb drives)!

I replaced the hardware with a new F5-422 and the problem is resolved.
