so i was using the NAS over the network quite happily for the entire day, suddenly, NAS is not available
i went down stairs to check it, all the lights are on, network is connected, orange light on network port is flashing, disk lights flash once every now and then but absolutely no connection via the TOS interface or ssh, sadly i forgot to ping to actually see if there was any response.
i pressed the button on the front, it beeped and shut down, i pressed the button again, it beeped and started up and is now ok, but i cant find any logs, the messages log starts only from The time it restarted, no journal
no changes on network, same cable before and after it restarted so not cables, power was connected as the lights were on, i could reach other devices on The same network hub etc.
how do i get some indication of what happened ?

Re: NAS went offline
I couldn’t reach it at all so couldn’t see a prompt
Do you mean in ssh like bash prompt?
Oh I forgot to mention I tried to use TNAS PC but that didn’t find it either but as soon as I pressed the button on the front the TNAS PC saw it again but it was shutting down at that point

Re: NAS went offline
What are you doing before you can't use it?
Did you shut down by pressing the button all the time, or did you shut it down with a single tap?
Is your device's CPU usage high?

Re: NAS went offline
I wasn’t doing anything I just went to get a file but I couldn’t connect
No high CPU usage apps should have been running as far as I know, is there a previous log I can look at as I found nothing in /var/log
I only shut down using the button when I couldn’t reach it, I don’t shut it down usually it’s running 24 hours a day

Re: NAS went offline
I have had similar problem, TNAS becomes unresponsive after staying idle for some time. So far I have not got any clue on the issue.
