Hard Drive failure

Post by aj2703 »

I had what I thought was a hard drive failure in slot one. So I went and purchased a new drive. Low and behold a few weeks later the same drive dropped sync with the second drive.

Pretty sure it is not the drive.

Does anyone know what it could be that is causing the issue. There was one hell of a like alarm sound coming from the TNAS. It's setup as raid one so luckily no data lost.

One HDD failure in RAID1 will not lead to data loss.
Please advise your TNAS model number and purchasing data in return.
When the same HDD inserted back to the RAID, will it be repaired automatically?

Hi.

It's the F2-210. Not sure what you mean by purchasing data?

I didn't try. as I thought it was a drive failure. It's what it said I went and purchased a new one. Low and behold a couple of weeks later it did it again.

Please power off your device, swap HDD2 to slot 1 and HDD1 to slot 2 to see if it happens again on slot1.

I have kind of done that already in that I purchased a new drive which then had the same problem. I know it's not the drive as I have a inateck docking station which I plugged it into and it worked fine.

I shall give it a try and get back to you. :-)
