New Nas, how do I reuse existing disks?

Post by eglons »

Hi, I've just got a new F2-221 to replace an existing F2-210. I want to reuse the disks as they have a lot of data on them but the installation process is telling me that all data will be wiped, so I'm nervous to install them and continue.

Is there a guide on how to install my new NAS using existing data disks?

No matter how the process goes, don't even attempt to reuse the drives until you do a backup of your data. Even if you have to copy it all to a bunch of USB keys, backup!

Hi!
F2-221 is X86 architecture, but F2-210 is arm architecture. Thus the original hard disk cannot be used directly on F2-221. You need to use a device with the same architecture, or back up your hard drive data on your computer first.

I've spoken to tech support and they told me to just put the disks in a power up, TOS should just work out of the box. I tried and it did!
