What did you change in transmission settings? did you change port? what did you get when you try to start your transmission? Would you share a screenshot?

The only thing that started happening recently was that the ip of the nas was changing on its own.
I kept changing it back to the original one a few times then transmission stopped working for some reason, without changing anything on it.
I get the following:

Sorry, your image does not display correctly, would you reload it as attachments?
From my experience, changing IP address does not effect Transmission starting unless you changed the port. By the way, your TNAS wouldn't change its IP address by itself. Your router lease time out and renew IP to your TNAS.

Please try following solutions:
1. uninstall your transmission;
2. go to shared directory admin > user, and appdata > transmission;
3. delete all existing configurations files related to transmission;
4. restart your tnas and re-install Transmission again.
