VPN Client for F2-210

Hi there,

Can anyone from TM let me know whether there is likely to be a VPN client app available for the F2-210 NAS at any point?

Is it on the development roadmap?

I see there is a VPN app for -220+ models, does this mean it might happen for -210 in future?

Thanks

Sorry to tell you that there is no plan for 210 models supporting VPN at the moment.

I see this one in my F2-220 (TOS 4.1.24). Is this currently valid? I don't see information about how it really works. Is it using "OpenVPN" tool product?

F2-220 does support VPN. You can install VPN Server on your TNAS to set it as VPN Server, the available modes are Open VPN, PPTP VPN, L2TP/IPsec.

I recommend that you reconsider. Your competitor Synology has a much better app selection for their basic NAS in the same price range, the Synology DS220j. I have both the F2-210 and F4-210 (2GB) and the app selection is poor.

I have not checked if it works, but you may want to try the Docker route, such as: https://hub.docker.com/r/dperson/openvpn-client/ or similar.
There might need some particular setup to do so that host (core NAS services) can leverage vpn tunnel (proxying or else): you might find support/tutorials in related sites.

Surely something interesting to investigate & sort-out.
