Applications on TOS - Updates

Post by qash001 »

Applications included in the 'store' should be updated regularly, and updates pushed through TOS.

Hi,the application situation is different and the number of applications is huge, the most reasonable method is to update as needed.

I'm having trouble updating Nextcloud, the newest version is 20 but the one available from the applications in TOS is 16.

After installing version from TOS, Nextcloud application says there is an update to 17, but even that does not update.

There should probably be a nextcloud update recently.

not sure if this is the right thread to add this, but can we be alert on the unit itself i find very useful on the buffalo nas drives, is there an option to flash a light orange or something to indicate there is an update waiting, rather than having to login to the unit?

this would be for installed apps and for TOS OS updates, not sure how long a Plex update was sat there but would have been nice to know rather than finiding it by chance as the idea of a nas drive is to set it up once and then it is just left alone

Further to this, I noticed that there was an update notification in the “store”, but couldn’t tell what app it was for until I scrolled through the list looking for it. Would it be possible to have another bucket alongside Installed and Beta called “Available Updates” or just “Updates”? This could list only the apps with updates available and provide an easier way for someone to manage these updates.

Thanks!

I've returned my unit and replaced with a Synology. Problem solved!

Disclaimer: These are my opinions. You can feel free to ignore, but don't hate on me because I feel differently from you.

This seems to be far too many people's answer to the problems. I understand why of course, when you buy a product you expect it to work, out of the box, without issues caused by what should be standard updates. I get that there are other brands that appear to work this way, but at the same time, alternatives to these "leading" brands, which we as users benefit from due to their lower prices, can't begin to thrive if users simply jump ship.

Again, I completely understand why it happens, I just hope that those that make this decision at least stop and think about the benefits of staying with the platform and instead, working more closely with support and TM representatives to help get them the feedback and technical detail on the issues to create a better, more stable platform.

Also, as much as these forums are great, and as much as TM staff are quick to respond, my suggestion is to always email support for any major issues. This seems to be the fastest way to get in touch with the team that has the answers, and the ability to help.

I'm glad you raised the point because this was my thought process exactly. I was quite long forward to being part of this growing community and helping pave the way for a potentially great product. However the problems I've encountered are complete deal-breakers for me as they prevent me from being able to do what i actually wanted to do so essentially the product is just a paperweight until the issue are resolved.

I've had to gracefully bow out unfortunately.
