[Help] Missing users and groups after ugrade to TOS7

Post by SunDogBC »

I'm having the same issue as Missing users and groups after ugrade to TOS6 after upgrading to TOS 7.

For example, I had an Emby server that had created an "Emby" user. It no longer shows in the User list but if I try to create it manually, I get "The name already exists!'. I do see it listed in the passwd file:

Code: Select all

emby:x:10002:10002:TOS App User:/home/emby:/bin/bash
but I can't give it access to my shared media folder.

How does the User decide which users to show? And how do I get them reconciled/corrected? I tried a factory reset back to TOS6 to no avail.

Hello!
After installing Emby, the system will automatically create a shared folder named "emby". Please note: TOS does not support duplicate names between users and shared folders, so do not create a user with the same name.
You can view this folder in Control Panel > Privilegs > Shared Folders.

I found my mistake. I was looking for a standard user called emby and not an application user when granting privileges to my public folder.
It's all good now (from this perspective.)
