[Help] Can't join domain with F4-424 Max TOS6 6.0.750

Post by Tonio83 »

Hi,
I've recently bought an F4-424 MAX (running TOS6 6.0.750), and I'm having difficulty joining it to my domain. I get the error: "SMB Workgroup set incorrectly!"

I've tried multiple parameters without success:
  • SMB file service options: Domain name as DOMAIN, DOMAIN.LOCAL, and the default WORKGROUP
  • I’ve even activated SMBv1/CIFS on my server (normally disabled for security reasons).
  • I tested with a TrueNAS VM and had no issue joining the domain.
  • After a factory reset, the problem still persists.
  • NTP are same between the NAS & Server (same date and time).
  • I've try with firewall desactivated.
My domain runs on Windows Server 2016 (with 2016 functional level).

 Do you have a “magic” configuration for the NAS or any prerequisites for Windows Server 2016 :?:

Thanks you for your help

Hi,

After a debugging session with a friend, the logs revealed two issues:

First: My domain server allows NTP connections but blocks communication.
Solution: Reset the NTP server on the domain controller.

Second: My DNS server still had records of an old and decommissioned domain server.
Solution: Delete the outdated entries.

I hope this information will be useful to help other users.
