Tricky wrote: 31 Mar 2024, 16:46 Call me suspicious but I can't help but wonder are TM starting to favor certain makes of drive and just like some of the RAM that can't be used in the TNAS will we start to find HDDs the same if not the "approved" make.

Re: The TOS 6 Beta Is Now Available for Public Testing

Regarding disk health warnings, I believe it's more of a matter of scale rather than reliability. Specific issues require specific analysis. If you can point out the irrationalities in the warnings you received, it would actually be more practically meaningful. Moreover, 1. Are you suggesting that ...

Re: The TOS 6 Beta Is Now Available for Public Testing

Nope, the drive makers not always tell you the true! You don't even know how they determine whether their hard drives are healthy or not, or what the criteria are for their judgment, right? They have never made it public, have they? Our engineers have more than 16 years of experience working with h...

Re: TerraMaster TRAID+: Elevating Disk Array Management

No, other linux system can't load the storage pool built with TRAID or TRAID+, you need to fix the faulty system or load your drives in other TNAS device.

Hard drives and SSDs use S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) to gauge their own reliability and determine if they're failing. It should be unrelated to other hardware apart from the hard drive itself.

Re: TOS 5.1 cannot see SMART data for NVME storage

I am not sure which version of smartctl TOS is currently using, and I need to check it. However, I don't think it has anything to do with the version. Many users of TerraMaster are using NVMe as a cache, and most of them are able to read smart information. In the meantime, there is an SSD compatibil...
