It's USB 2.0, so it's either limited to 100 mA (low power) or 500 mA (high power), with the former being most likely due to being an internal connection.

No. RAID & JBOD are only available through the internal connections.

Check SMART information on both drives. Maybe run tests on them as well.

Is it possible to take a working drive from a Terramaster NAS into a D4-300 DAS and be able to access existing files? Technically, yes. You'll need whichever OS you'll be attaching the enclosure to, to have support for both BTRFS and EXT4 file systems (those are what TOS would be using internally) ...

Don't just delete partitions, secure erase the drives to leave them uninitialized.
