Boot from external USB without removing internal USB TOS drive

Hi - as the subject says, I'm just looking for a way to boot from an external USB drive without having to open up the system and remove the internal USB TOS bootloader. Can I just hook up my F4-423 to an HDMI monitor and keyboard and go into the BIOS and modify the boot sequence? If it helps I'm pla...

Re: 20GB of RAM but barely utilised

I see. I actually prefer to use my SSDs for storage, so I wonder if there's a way to use excess RAM for caching in TOS, similar to ZFS ARC caching?

20GB of RAM but barely utilised

I added 16GB of SK Hynix DDR4 RAM to my F4-423 for a total of 20GB of RAM including the stock DIMM. I notice that for general NAS use including SMB/Plex, memory usage rarely goes beyond 1GB, mostly hovering between 500-700MB. My question is - what use cases or applications readily available in the T...

Re: Shared folder mapped to Vol 2 not seen by network devices

Hi. I've restarted both the client devices and the NAS and I still can't connect to the shared folder for Vol 2. All other folders are fine though. You mentioned a fix is in the works - do you know when and how will it be deployed? Will it be added to TOS6? Should I just reset to factory defaults fo...

Shared folder mapped to Vol 2 not seen by network devices

Hi - I just created a new shared folder mapped to Vol 2 in my F4-423 NAS, but the folder can't be seen by other devices in my network. My other shared folers are connected just fine, and I checked the permissions were all similar. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

USB drives not remounting automatically on reboot

Hi - I'm running TOS 5.1 on an F4-423 and have a couple of Toshiba 4TB ext4 USB drives connected. I noticed recently that they would not remount following a system reboot and there is no option to remount whilst logged in aside from manually disconnecting and reconnecting the drives. Any ideas?
