Re: Super User created with wrong permissions (ToS 5.1)

TMeric, Thank you for your reply but I'm not really interesting on using test versions of your OS with my NAS. Given that these are fundamental issues with user permissions, i.e. Group Permissions do not work, they need to be fixed in TOS 5 too. As you now seem to have a solution, will we be seeing ...

Re: TOS 5.1.95 (X86) is Released for Update

Updated from 5.1.67 to 5.1.95 on my F5-422 On first startup after the upgrade I waited a few minutes but Plex had not started. I went to the app center and it said that Plex was not enabled. I clicked on the enable button and a few minutes later I got a red operation failed message. I tried that 3 o...

Re: Super User created with wrong permissions (ToS 5.1)

Can you expand on, "currently a slight issue with group permissions" and explain what those issues are? What we are describing are not "slight" issues. Also, why would user permissions take priority over group permissions? That sounds wrong. When you set up a shared folder you sa...

Re: Super User created with wrong permissions (ToS 5.1)

@Gremlin Thank you for investigating and confirming that group permissions are not working.

TerraMaster support. Please can you comment on this matter. A broken user permission system is a significant and fundamental failure of the operating system that must be addressed.

Re: TOS 5.1.41 (X86) is Released for Update

TMRoy, I was suprised by this request back on page 4 of this thread..., "Would you remove all your drives and reboot your TNAS to find the initboot version number from the bottom of the TOS page?" The Initboot version is shown in Control Panel > System > Update Tab in ToS 5.1. Is that info...

Re: TOS 5.1.40 (X86) is Released for update

"encrypted shared folders created on 5.1.37 cannot be decrypted in subsequent versions. We recommend that you reinstall back to 5.1.37 and export the data from the encrypted shared folder. After updating to 5.1.40, you can continue to use the encrypted shared folder." Shouldn't there be a ...

Re: Super User created with wrong permissions (ToS 5.1)

Regarding my last post, I note the following from the release notes from ToS 5.1.40: 6. Fixed the issue where permission configuration was incomplete when creating a shared folder. That sounds in the ballpark of the issue I saw. Is there any more information on that particular issue so we can unders...

Re: TOS 5.1.37 (X86) is Released for update

Just to expand on a few of Gremlins points.... "This usually requires taking the disks out of the NAS and connecting them to a pc or similar device to ensure that no vestige of TOS remains" To expand on this, the way that I did this recently was to connect the ToS drives to a Windows 11 ma...

Re: Super User created with wrong permissions (ToS 5.1)

There is something seriously broken with User Group Permissions. To test my theory that the allusers group is blocking access to my shared folders I did the following... 1. In Windows I tried to map a drive. I could only see the Public folder and the home drive of my user. 2. In ToS I edited the &qu...

Re: Share an existing folder (SMB)

My understanding is that public is shared by default. So if you have a "picture" folder within public then I think that it is already shared and you would be able to map a windows drive to it using a user that has read or read/write permissions on public. If you go into Control Panel \ Sha...
