Before going the repair route, I unplugged the external USB drive and powered the TNAS up again. This time everything returned to normal.

Apparently it was attempting to find TOS on the USB drive.

All is well now.

Since I'm unable to access the TNAS, are you suggesting I remove the hard drives from the TNAS and install in a WIN10 machine to troubleshoot?

I received and set up a replacement F4-210 several days ago. The setup was flawless and the unit is performing perfectly fine.

I do wish users other than admin could be configured/managed for the external/usb drive(s)

Yes, the unit is new. Purchased via Amazon on April 14th. The initial install/setup went fine. After a few days I went to start over to try a different config and that's when the problem started. I've spent the last week or more trying to get this thing to reinstall TOS.

What 3rd party tool do you recommend? I have cleaned and initialized each of the 4 drives with a Win10 PC. I have tried them one by one, and all together. Same results each time. So you are suggesting that 4 hard drives failed simultaneously, while installed in the F4-210?

If this isn't resolved in the next day or two, the TNAS will be returned and a competitor's NAS will replace it.

I bought this to obtain a higher level of data integrity. So far, I don't feel like TNAS can be trusted to provide any level of data integrity.
